VeryDarkMan Faces Fresh Cyberbullying Charges in Abuja Court

Controversial online figure Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), is once again entangled in legal issues—this time over accusations of cyberbullying several Nigerian celebrities.
On Thursday, May 15, 2025, the Nigeria Police Force arraigned Otse before Justice Musa Liman at the Federal High Court in Abuja. He faced a five-count charge related to alleged online harassment and defamation. Otse pleaded not guilty to all the allegations.
The charges name prominent Nigerian figures as victims, including Nollywood actresses Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh. Also mentioned is music producer and singer Samuel Oguachuba, popularly known as Samklef.
This new legal action comes shortly after Otse’s release from custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he was detained on unrelated fraud allegations. His swift return to court has reignited public discussion around the influence of social media personalities and the legal boundaries of online speech in Nigeria.
Otse, known for his bold online presence and frequent criticism of public figures, now finds himself at the center of a case that could have wider implications for internet conduct and accountability.
