APC under Tinubu has done well - Peter Obi

On Thursday, March 13, Peter Obi shared his thoughts with journalists following a meeting with Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed. Obi took the opportunity to discuss the ongoing economic challenges under President Bola Tinubu's administration, offering a sharp critique of the current situation in comparison to the previous leadership of Muhammadu Buhari.

Obi pointed out that Tinubu had promised to continue from where Buhari left off, a pledge that the president has largely fulfilled, albeit with negative consequences for the Nigerian populace. “Under the APC government, the current administration has certainly kept its word,” Obi remarked. “When President Tinubu campaigned, he made it clear that he would continue from where Buhari stopped. If you look at the situation now, Buhari left office with the dollar at around ₦400, and now it has skyrocketed to about ₦1,600. The price of rice, which was about ₦30,000, has surged to ₦100,000, while beans, which was ₦40,000, now costs nearly ₦100,000 as well.”

He also noted the dramatic increase in fuel prices, stating, "Fuel used to cost about ₦200, but it has now reached approximately ₦1,000. Everything has either doubled or tripled in price." Obi’s remarks underline the significant economic challenges faced by Nigerians, as he critiqued the government’s handling of key issues such as inflation and fuel costs.

Further emphasizing the need for collective political action, Obi agreed with Governor Bala Mohammed's call for collaboration across political lines to address Nigeria's deepening crises. "It is no longer about individual interests," Obi concluded. "We've spent enough time in this country, and it's time to come together for the sake of Nigeria's future."

Obi’s comments highlight the growing frustration with the country's economic direction, stressing the urgency for leadership unity and meaningful change.
