Portable Blasts Bella Shmurda Over Podcast Comment

The tension between Nigerian artists Portable and Bella Shmurda is heating up after a podcast interview triggered a fiery online response from Portable.

Bella Shmurda recently appeared on the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast hosted by skit maker Isbae U. When asked if he would ever collaborate with Portable, Bella declined, saying their music styles don’t match. He also added that he prefers to stay away from “wahala”—a comment many took as a subtle swipe at Portable’s controversial image.

It didn’t take long for Portable to respond. In a no-holds-barred Instagram video, the outspoken “Zazoo Zeh” artist slammed Bella’s comments, claiming superiority in both fame and success. He boasted about performing internationally, mocked Bella’s career achievements, and even challenged him to show his passport to prove his global status.

“Bella no reach me. We’re not on the same level,” Portable shouted in the video. He went further, accusing Bella of using his name to generate buzz ahead of an upcoming album.

The controversy deepened when Portable mentioned the late Mohbad, suggesting that Bella’s collaboration with him was followed by tragedy—an insensitive comment that sparked outrage online. Fans were quick to condemn the remark as distasteful and unnecessary.

Portable also claimed he once performed at Bella’s show in London without being paid, and warned Bella to stop speaking about industry figures more influential than him.

The back-and-forth has since taken over Nigerian social media, with fans split on the issue. While some see Bella’s comment as harmless, others believe Portable’s response crossed a line. Either way, the clash has reignited conversations about respect, relevance, and rivalry in the fast-paced Nigerian music scene.
