TVC News Launches AI Anchors in Five Nigerian Languages
TVC News has broken new ground in Nigerian broadcasting by launching the country’s first artificial intelligence (AI) news anchors. These AI presenters can deliver news bulletins in five key local languages: Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Pidgin, and English.
This bold step is part of TVC Communications’ strategy to modernize its newsroom and extend its reach across Nigeria’s diverse regions. By integrating AI into its news delivery, the station aims to connect more deeply with underserved communities by speaking to them in their native tongues.
According to TVC Communications, the AI anchors won’t replace human journalists—they’re here to support them. The goal is to use technology to amplify coverage, speed up news delivery, and make broadcasts more inclusive and relatable. This aligns with the company's broader mission: to use innovation to expand their digital footprint while maintaining journalistic standards.
“This is a historic moment for Nigerian media,” said Victoria Ajayi, CEO of TVC Communications. “With these AI anchors, we’re not just embracing technology—we’re using it to communicate more effectively with millions of Nigerians in languages they understand best.”
Still, TVC acknowledges potential concerns. With growing fears around deepfakes and misinformation, the company is taking a cautious approach. Every AI-generated segment will go through human editorial review, and the content will carry digital watermarks to ensure authenticity and regulatory compliance.
