Passenger Arrested for In-Flight Theft on Air Peace Flight

A passenger found with stolen items on an Air Peace flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt has been arrested and blacklisted by the airline.

In a statement on Thursday, Air Peace’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ejike Ndiulo, confirmed that the missing items were discovered in the passenger’s possession after a thorough search at Port Harcourt International Airport.

It was stated that the suspect was immediately handed over to airport police for further investigation.

“The incident of in-flight theft occurred on Flight P47190 on February 19, 2025. Air Peace remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of passengers and has taken appropriate action,” the statement read.

Concerns were raised by the airline regarding the increasing cases of in-flight theft in recent weeks, and new measures have been announced to address the issue.

“Air Peace is deeply worried about the rise in in-flight thefts. To address this challenge, stronger surveillance measures are being introduced on flights,” the statement added.

As part of these measures, cabin crew members have been directed to remain more vigilant during flights, while in-flight announcements will be made more frequently to remind passengers to secure their belongings and report any suspicious activities.

Additionally, the airline has recommended that the suspect be blacklisted as part of its strict policy against misconduct that affects passenger safety and comfort.

“The blacklisting of the suspect has been recommended to reinforce Air Peace’s zero-tolerance policy for any actions that compromise passenger security,” the statement added.

Air Peace assured the public of its commitment to maintaining a safe travel experience and urged passengers to follow security guidelines.
