FIFA to Host First-Ever Halftime Show at 2026 World Cup Final

For the first time in history, the FIFA Men’s World Cup final will feature an official halftime show, marking a new era of entertainment for the global tournament. FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed the groundbreaking addition via Instagram, announcing that the 2026 final, scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey (renamed New York New Jersey Stadium for the tournament), will include a live performance during the break—an element long associated with the NFL’s Super Bowl.

“I can confirm the first-ever halftime show at a FIFA World Cup final in New York New Jersey, in association with Global Citizen. This will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world,” Infantino stated.

Infantino also revealed that renowned British band Coldplay is actively involved in curating the halftime entertainment. He extended his gratitude to Chris Martin and Phil Harvey of Coldplay for collaborating with FIFA on selecting the lineup of artists who will perform at both the final and special events in Times Square.

In addition to the halftime show, FIFA has announced plans to take over New York City’s iconic Times Square during the final weekend of the tournament. The festivities will coincide with both the bronze medal match and the final, creating a vibrant atmosphere to celebrate some of the world's top football talent.

“We also spoke about how FIFA will take over Times Square for the final weekend of the FIFA World Cup in 2026, during both the bronze final match and the final,” Infantino added. “These will be two incredible matches, featuring some of the best players in the world, and what better way to celebrate than in historic Times Square.”

While the official halftime show lineup has yet to be disclosed, FIFA’s plans clearly signal an effort to deliver a world-class entertainment experience alongside the biggest event in global sports.
